BobaKhan Toys

After a long hiatus it’s good to be back on the hunt! I didn’t mean to give myself the summer off from the blog but the truth is I just didn’t really leave a lot of time for collecting. Don’t pity me though. It’s not like I was sitting at home broke. I went to California to celebrate a milestone birthday in the family, attended a wedding on one of the San Juan Islands here in the Northwest and, most importantly, my wife and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary with a trip through Spain and Portugal. It was a great summer for just about every part of my life except the blog. With all the trips for the year done and things getting mostly back to normal for me I decided it was time to get back to updating this little site of mine. I found the perfect way to get back into it when a friend told me about an amazing toy shop not too far away called BobaKhan. I checked it out and was not disappointed!

BobaKahn is a gigantic store in Everett, WA. I walked in and was immediately stunned by the amount of toys for sale. There were a lot of Simpsons figures at the front of the first aisle I walked through and I had so much fun looking for some Springfield residents I don’t have yet. While I didn’t find anyone new, I was in for a treat when I ended up in their Star Wars section at the back of the store.

If you’re a Power of the Force collector this place probably has the figures you need to complete your collection

I loved the Power of the Force collection and still have a bunch of mine from when I was a kid. At that age I mostly scored figures for my birthday or for Christmas since I didn’t have much money of my own. I never really had any luck getting the vehicles, though. I got a TIE fighter from my parents and my next door neighbor was nice enough to give me a Snowspeeder he was done with but other than that my figures had to walk the galaxy- their ships were nowhere to be found. If I ever decide to go back to that line and get those X-Wings and Y-Wings I missed I know I’m headed back to this shop because they had a ton of them, all in their original boxes too!

Never mind on the X-Wing, I’d definitely get the Millennium Falcon first

If you’re not into the Power of the Force line they have plenty of other options for you, most notably this Giant Watto statue!

I once saw an episode of Comic Book Men where a guy came in to the store trying to sell his R2-D2 cooler and he was mentioning how rare they are. Well, BobaKhan has one. Do you want your guests at your next BBQ to get their drinks from R2? You know where to go to make it happen!

Watch your back though, R2 seems like the kind of droid that would drink all your craft beer while you’re not looking

After I was done looking through all the Star Wars stuff I went over to the display cases with some rare collectables I recognized. Like my Star Wars collection, I also kept all of my Jurassic Park stuff. I have that young T-Rex in the background. Mine was taken out of the box a long time ago but I kept it in great condition. While I had a bunch of Jurassic Park toys I don’t remember getting anything from the Lost World. I was tempted to change that when I saw the remote control T-Rex. This thing is great and I’ve heard it’s one of the most sought after toys from any Jurassic movie.

One of the things I love most about searching through stores like this is finding toys I never even knew existed. I couldn’t believe I found a line of Chuck Norris action figures in the display case! I’ll have to look into this line and see what other Karate Kommandos were available to become the unfortunate victims of Chuck Norris.

While I know there is a lot of Pee-Wee’s Playhouse merch out there I had no idea there was a doll of Vance from Big Top Pee-Wee. I feel like Big Top Pee-Wee is underrated and I’m glad to see it got some representation in the toy aisle. Even though it’s not from the same series I think Vance would look great if you put him next to Chairy, Pterri, and of course, Pee-Wee himself.

Throughout the years of checking out collectables stores I’ve noticed they either carry new or vintage toys but rarely both. That’s not the case at BobaKhan. I think they have a great variety. With the Ninja Turtles, for example, they had brand new NECA figures like the SDCC video game set, the Casey Jones replica mask and the baby turtles as well as a bunch of the classic Playmates toys.

A lot of their stock is still in the box but they have a good assortment of figures that have been removed but are still in good shape. If you’re looking for the playsets, they had a nice sewer for sale. I believe it was $180 for this beauty.

I love that I just actually wrote the words “nice sewer for sale”

I don’t know of many places that sell Sideshow statues so it’s good to know if you want to see something in person before buying you may be able to check it out in person at BobaKhan. I first saw this Daredevil at SDCC and would love to be able to bring it home one day. Who knows when I’ll have the space for that. They also had Black Widow standing over Ultron and a lot of other DC characters.

I mentioned earlier that this place has a good variety of old and new and that was definitely apparent once I saw their Marvel Legends collection. Some of the rarer toys are behind glass but most are out on the floor. I didn’t find the Colossus/Juggernaut two-pack I’ve been keeping an eye out for but they had tons of others to choose from.

It happened to be Friday the 13th so it was very fitting to end my time at the store in their little horror section. The usual icons, Jason, Freddy, Leatherface, Xenomorphs and Predators were represented but with It being as popular as it is right now I think Pennywise figures outnumbered the others.

After all the browsing it was time to make a decision. I found one item here that has been on my list since I heard about it earlier this year and as soon as I saw it I knew it was coming home with me. Godzilla in the style of King Kong VS Godzilla!

While I really enjoyed the recent movie I’ve been wanting a figure based on the old look and this figure from NECA does not disappoint. He even comes with a cool background for photos and display. I think my next article may be a proper review of this guy, but for now back to BobaKhan!

There’s so much more I don’t even have pictured offered at BobaKhan, comics, video games and Funko Pops to name just a few. If you’re a collector in the area you owe it to yourself to visit. Thanks to the staff that day for allowing me to hang out and take pictures for the blog!

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for the next review!
